As per the data collected and analyzed by Statistics Canada in the year 2021, Winnipeg has a population of over 750,500. Winnipeg covers 464 square kilometres and is known as the Heart of Canada. English and French are the official languages of Winnipeg. The place also has speakers of indigenous languages like Ojibwe and Cree.

The city of Winnipeg is further divided into fifteen districts. These districts are known as the city wards. Each electoral city ward has a city councillor and a council. It is further dispersed into 230 neighbourhoods.

The wards are clubbed into five community committees. They are Assiniboia Community Committee, East Kildonan- Transcona Community Committee, City Centre, Lord Selkirk-West Kildonan Community Committee and Riel.

The fifteen city wards of Winnipeg are Point Douglas, Mynarski, and Old Kildonan under Lord Selkirk – Western Kildonan Community Committee, Elmwood, North Kildonan, and Transcona under the East Kildonan- Transcona Community Committee, St. Boniface. St. Nobert, and St. Vital under Riel, Daniel McIntyre, Fort Rouge- East Fort Garry, and River Heights- Fort Garry under City Centre and Charleswood- Tuxedo- Whyte Ridge, Waverley West and St. James-Brooklands-Weston under the Assiniboia Community Committee.

Each of the 230 neighbourhoods has its own unique features. Some of the neighbourhoods are Osborne Village, Tuxedo, The Forks, Exchange District, The Mint, Windsor Park and many others.

All these wards, communities and neighbourhoods together constitute the city of Winnipeg. The financial center of the city resides in the Downtown area, which has many skyscrapers, important government offices and other significant buildings and institutions.
