Winnipeg, the Gateway to the West, is the largest city and the capital of the province of Manitoba. The fifteen city wards of Winnipeg are Point Douglas, Mynarski, and Old Kildonan under Lord Selkirk – Western Kildonan Community Committee, Elmwood, North Kildonan, and Transcona under the East Kildonan- Transcona Community Committee, St. Boniface. St. Nobert, and St. Vital under Riel, Daniel McIntyre, Fort Rouge- East Fort Garry, and River Heights- Fort Garry under City Centre and Charleswood- Tuxedo- Whyte Ridge, Waverley West and St. James-Brooklands-Weston under the Assiniboia Community Committee.
Each of the 230 neighbourhoods has its own unique features. Some of the neighbourhoods are Osborne Village, Tuxedo, The Forks, Exchange District, The Mint, Windsor Park and many others.
All these wards, communities and neighbourhoods together constitute the city of Winnipeg. The financial center of the city resides in the Downtown area, which has many skyscrapers, important government offices and other significant buildings and institutions.
