For those looking at skiing resorts in Canada, Blue Mountain is second perhaps only to Whistlerโs Blackcomb. In fact, itโs a far more convenient option for those from the northeastern U.S. and Canada.
Blue Mountain can be an unforgettable experience โ with great dining restaurants, excellent spas, eye-catching mountain villages, and adventure activities. If you are wondering what could be there for you to enjoy. Let me tell you, the place is fully packed with lots of fun and adventure. I must say that you wonโt get any time to get bored. So check out the activities you can enjoy there.
1. Explore the Private Beach
Not many resorts have a private beach โ Blue Mountain does. So, while you can book rooms with a kitchen, multiple bathrooms, and a separate living area, enquire with the resort you choose whether they provide complimentary access to the private beach. Although the general public could use it for a fee, you can use it for free as a hotel guest. The beach is located on the shores of Georgian Bay, which is around ten minutes by car โ but look for the shuttle from the Mountain Village, which is free.
2. Donโt Forget to Ride the Open-air Gondola
What can be more thrilling than riding the open-air gondolas? Yes, hiking up the Niagara Escarpment can be exhausting and tedious, so you might want to hop on board one of the open-air gondolas. The gondolas have no seats, and you need to stand up for the entire ride. The open-air gives you 360-degree views of the surrounding resort area and the gorgeous Georgian Bay in the background.ย
3. Make a Reservation for The Scenic Caves Eco Adventure
I highly recommend you explore the scenic caves there. It is just a short drive from the base of Blue Mountain and is a fun family adventure at that. You witness one of the biggest suspension bridges stretching around 420 feet. With every step, the panoramic view of southern Ontario will unfold and send an adrenaline rush within you.ย
4. Donโt Miss Hiking in the Blue Mountains
Are you an adventure freak like me? Hiking in Blue Mountain areas will surely satisfy your hunger.
With five walking paths and 18 hiking trails spanning over 30 kms, the options are endless. The hiking trails range from a stroll in the forest to stimulating treks to the top of the hill. The hiking can be a test of endurance, and you could even bike on trails like the Fresh Bike Trail.
I recommend going to the following trails:
- Enchanted Forest Hiking Trail if youโre looking to explore the trails by walking.
- The Happy Haul hiking trail if you are looking for a brisk 20-minute adventure.
- If youโre looking for something a little bit longer and a tiny bit more intense, explore the Sticks and Stones hiking trail.
- The Green World Hiking Trail, on the other hand, isnโt for beginners and would take you more than an hour and a half to complete.
You will come across ski trails, tree islands, and more โ making for the ultimate Blue Mountain trail adventure.

5. Go for Adventure Sports
The Wind Rider Zip Line stands 50 feet high and is a thrilling and family-friendly experience for riders 13 and older. Also, there is the Woodlot Low Ropes was located just next to the Zipline. With over 25 distinct features, including bridges, cargo nets, tire swings and three elevated courses, it gave us a challenging yet unforgettable experience.
6. Strolling and Shopping in Blue Mountain Village is Fun
I canโt forget to tell you about any shopping shop wherever you visit. The little pedestrian-only village at the foot of the Mountain is a must-visit place for shopping therapy. You can find boutiques, sports goods, home furnishings, and clothing stores. If you visit in winter, you can get the newest downhill ski gear and clothing to ensure you look your best on the slopes. These places feature welcoming patios in the summer and some with lake views.

7. Rock Climbing Wall is a Thrilling Adventure
Standing just before the towering climbing wall next to the Ridge Runner Mountain Coasterโs entrance at Blue Mountain can feel exhilarating. Although the 25-foot-high wall seemed intimidating, wearing safety gear will make you feel more secure climbing and zipping back down. The wall is accessible to practically all ages (three and above). Simply put, climbing the wall provided a thrilling experience and tested our physical strength. You will love this memorable experience.
One Destination to Have in Your Travel Itinerary
The Blue Mountains are one of the most well-liked tourist destinations in the country and are worth many visits! If youโre in Eastern Canada during the fall, I highly recommend you visit here. For those coming from the U.S. or are in Ontario, the place can be accessible year-round. So, pack your bags accordingly as Blue Mountain is calling you to experience all adventure and thrill,
