Quebec is filled with many restaurants that offer different types of cuisine with refined and creative dishes. It is the center of countless gourmet restaurants that offer outstanding French-Canadian cuisine. Some restaurants also serve authentic Italian cuisine along with their signature cuisine. Apart from this, the infrastructure of the various restaurants is exquisite; they have beautiful views, ancient landscapes, and modern art, and the dining is just like you have never seen anywhere.
1. Le Saint-Amour

Innovation and tradition are fused in this restaurant in Quebec City to accomplish or fulfill a sophisticated experience with some healthy ingredients. The Le Saint-Amour is basically divided into three main dining rooms. One among these dining rooms is in the garden, also called the indoor garden. Phil Smoked Meat, as the name suggests, is renowned for its smoked meats. Here, you will find sound, humble food, something that Quebec City takes pride in. The restaurant has a hot atmosphere and is incredibly friendly, and the owner, Phillipe P. Bolduc, is always there to welcome you.
The Smoked Meat Sandwich is the most popular dish on the menu, so obviously, you have to try it. Apart from that, their Poutine Smoked Meat is also incredible.
3. Aux Anciens Canadien
Location: 34 Rue Saint-Louis
Aux Anciens Canadiens is situated in the very popular historic and famous Maison Jacquet. It is one of the oldest standing houses in the city and was built in the year 1675. The restaurant owes its name to the Les Anciens Canadiens, given by popular Philippe-Aubert De Gaspe, the house’s former resident.
Since the year 1966, this restaurant has been famous for cooking authentic Quebecois recipes, including duck, meat pies, syrup sauce, pheasant, and caribou. The waiters of this restaurant also wear old Quebec City-period clothes.
When here, you must order the Quebec Meat Pie, which is simply delicious. Their Meatballs, Poutine Com Canard Confit, Escargot and Maple Syrup Pie are also amazing!
4. Le Continental
Location: 26 Rue Saint-Louis
Le-continental is one of the prestigious dining spots in Quebec City. It is located in a house built by Jean-Thomas Taschereau in 1854 and since 1956, this restaurant in Quebec City has been offering traditional French meats in a very charming and sophisticated atmosphere.
Some of the dishes you must have here are the Ceasar Salad, Filet Mignon Continental, Escargot in Garlic Butter, Caesar Salad and Crepe Suzette.
5. Battuto
Location: 527 Bd Langelier
Battuto stands out in Quebec City’s landscape for its minimalism. Owned by Guillaume Saint-Pierre, Pascal Bussieres, and Paul Croteau this restaurant serves Italian cuisine, along with some French cuisine.
Coming to the dishes, scallop crudo, beef carpaccio, corn raviolo, and cannolis with haskap berries are their best offerings!
Reservation is mandatory in this restaurant, and let me tell you, it is tough to get! So plan accordingly.
6. Buvette Scott
Location: 821 Rue Scott
In Old Quebec, there is a classy, upmarket restaurant called Buvette Scott. You feel the warmth and intimacy as soon as you enter this space. t is an underground wine bar located at the bottom of Rue Scoot or Rue Saint. Seasonal produce inspires it, so no dish stays on chef Jean-Philippe Lessard’s menu all year long. So when you get the chance, you must try their duck ham, oysters, guinea fowl pate, nordic shrimp and beef tongue.There are approximately 25 chairs here, so you will definitely be the centre of attention. Le Fin Gourmet is a tapas style fine restaurant owned by Marina and Elsa Bherer. Here you can have your meal in the comfortable dining room or cooked from sous-vide at the house. And I must tell you, their dishes are to die for! You must try their sardines along with chanterelles sauvage, fleurs de courgette and tuna tataki w/ roasted vegetables & vichyssoise. At this young and trendy restaurant, David, the founder, welcomes you at the entrance and the staff goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome. The decor of this restaurant is elegant with art-decorative furniture.
Chef Etienne McKinnon offers flavour-filled and simple main-size dishes at Sardines. The baked bread, fresh salads (from their garden), sardines (bien sur), and carefully curated wine and beer list are all outstanding.
9. La Buche
Location: 49 Saint-Louis Street, Old Quebec
La Buche is an elegant restaurant with an elegant dining room. Its menu presents gourmet delicacies from Quebec and Italian cuisine. You must try their salmon crepes, french toast, rabbit wings and waffles.
10. Alentours
Location: 715Rue Saint-Bernard
This is a very popular and sustainable restaurant situated in Quebec City. It is the only zero-waste restaurant that serves excellent local fare to its customers. All the ingredients used in the dishes come from a nearby 150km radius, and all the waste is composted. In short, all the dishes in this restaurant are made from scratch using ingredients available from the restaurants.
Their cockatiels and deserts in particular are quite amazing, like their white sangria and strawberry pavlova dessert. And the most interesting part, this restaurant also offers a blind-tasting menu to its customers!
11. Bistro Hortus
Location: 1190Rue Saint-Jean
This restaurant uses fresh ingredients from the farm. Chef Stephane Roth supervises the preparation of each dish, which is made up of fresh, seasonal fruits and vegetables. Almost 90% of the ingredients used in preparing dishes are organic. If you can, you must experience their Quebecois Brunch; I am sure you won’t be disappointed. And there are also a lot of gluten-free options available here.
