Are you visiting Vancouver Island in your next holidays? Yeah, Great! I have to tell you about one of the most beautiful but maybe lesser-known tourist destinations. Well, as everyone knows Vancouver Island is in British Columbia. I must say that one can make the best of their holidays by exploring the monuments, buildings, and charm of the place. But one spot that I would strongly recommend you visit there is- Whytecliff Park.

Now you may ask why, whatโ€™s so special about it. Okay, letโ€™s start on a note that it is easily approachable by automobile and public transportation. This is not everything, thereโ€™s much more to it. I will tell you about this unique destination in detail.

Whytecliffย Park is situated in West Vancouverโ€™sย Horseshoe Bay Suburb, which was previously known asย White Cliff Cityย when it was first built in 1909.

Now hereโ€™s what you will spot there. If you have always wished to explore some coastal creatures, this is your ultimate destination. You may explore coastal seals, sea pens, lingcod, nudibranchs, sea cucumbers, and, on rare occasions, octopus. Do you know that there are over 200 sea creatures?

What else? The park is set in a beautiful location near a scenic campground and a restricted animal preserve close to Horseshoe Bay in West Vancouver. So, you can visit those too, if you have enough time. Moreover, come along with your family and friends to enjoy various activities there, including boating, birding, trekking, snorkelling, and picnics.

We enjoy all the recreational activities better, when in a group. Isnโ€™t it?

Check the Directions

As I told you above you can go there by car or public transport. With public transport, you need to walk a little bit. but thatโ€™s okay. If going by your car, start through Marine Drive towards West Vancouver. You will have to take two exits.

  • Turn right on Taylor Way and exit onto Highway #1 Westbound.
  • Then follow the highway and the next exit #2 for EagleRidge Drive.
  • Take left onto Marine Drive after the overpass and after some distance, you will be there.

If you are going by public transit, you need to catch the bus. I will tell you the nearest bus stop is in Horseshoe Bay.

Whytecliff Park includes other attractions in contrast to its golden highlights. The playground spans over landscaped grounds altogether. The whole family enjoying the beautiful corner of the world surrounded by a grassy area, a nearby small cove, and spectacular views are what small kids and family members crave to sightsee.

Aย large open space, a small childrenโ€™s play area with a parking lot, jumps, tennis courts, public bathrooms, changing facilities, and a sheltered picnic tableย are all included. On busy weekends throughout the summertime, a small cafeteria also exists.

  • The quietness and tranquillity of this region are ideal for picnicking if the conditions allow.
  • This region has a variety of hiking paths spanning in difficulty from basic to challenging. So, enjoy trekking.
  • Because the area is adjacent to the water, it is an excellent location forย whale watchingย during high tide and low tide.
  • This area also provides excellent fishing options.
  • This park includes several picnic spots ideal for a quiet day out.
  • When the waves are also too strong to trek over to other rocks, kayaking is your option. You can also go for scuba diving.
