When travelling to Canada one can’t skip the seaside beauty and the sandy shores all over. Yes, the beaches around are ready to welcome you with their vast boundaries and pleasant atmosphere. My friend who lives in Vancouver is so fond of these beaches that whenever free, he prefers to enjoy a great time there with his family and friends.
He always says that Vancouver is appreciated for its aesthetic pleasures, and with world-class beaches, fresh seafood, and it has a lot to offer. If you also want to rest or have fun in the nature’s lap, visit these beautiful gems.
1. Kitsilano Beach
One of Vancouver’s busiest beaches is Kitsilano Beach, particularly in the sweltering summer months. You will see Kitsilano Pool on the west side of Kits Beach along with the Seawell. You can also enjoy some games on the playground and volleyball courts.
Got a gang of friends? Why not hit this beach in Vancouver and play volleyball till sunset? I bet you will love the serenity and vibe in Kitsilano Beach.
2. English Bay Beach
Let me tell you that English Bay Beach is also known as the first beach. Many visitors visit this beach making it the busiest spot in the centre of North Vancouver. In fact, it is the most populated beach there. You can also explore the Stanley Park Seawall stretching along the shore’s eastern edge. I recommend this as it is perfect for jogging and bicycling. You must visit there in summer and enjoy swimming and picnics.
So, are you excited for your next summer holidays in the lap of English Bay Beach? Let’s get tanned together on this exotic beach, well meet you on the other side then!
3. Jericho Beach
Next on my list is Jerico Beach with its stunning park. You will love the collection of wild rabbits on the Point Grey coast. The beach also offers picnic spots, athletic courts, and duck ponds. Are you fond of sailing too? I would recommend you to contact the Jericho Sailing Centre, which rents out a variety of small watercraft at affordable rates, including paddle boards and kayaks.
4. Wreck Beach
Wreck Beach is a well-known location and one of the popular beaches. And you will be surprised to know that this beach is a peculiar spot for naked sunbathing. I am telling you this because if you want to try something daring like undressing yourself in a public place; you can. It is a clothing-optional beach but that doesn’t mean you need to undress completely. It’s only your choice.
And one thing I must remind you to respect other people’s privacy there. Also, refrain from taking pictures of people without their consent. So excited to have a skin dipping experience? Then head on to Wreck Beach in Vancouver!
5. Spanish Banks Beach
Spanish Banks Beach is segregated into three separate areas: east, west, and the beach extension. It is situated along Northwest Marine, west of Tolmie St. Low tide flats, which are most noticeable at Spanish Bank West and are one kilometre offshore at low tide. These are what Spanish Banks are most known for.
Swimming is possible in Spanish Bank East, while Spanish Bank West is where skimboarding and kitesurfing are more in demand. These beaches are loved for strolls, family get-togethers, picnics, and playing tennis soccer, and volleyball games.
6. Sunset Beach
As the name suggests, this region is renowned for its spectacular sunsets, away from the city skyline. It is close to the Vancouver Pool Centre and has a port entry for the Falsreek Ferry. Either relax in the golden sand or lean on the logs; the beach is fully enjoyable. You can also opt for sunbathing and or swimming.
Many events are also organized there at times. I must tell you about the Pride Festival. It is a free concert by the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, held here every year. If you are a music lover, joining the event will make your day.
7. Locarno Beach
Locarno Beach is a part of the Stanley Park seawall system and can be found on Northwest Marine near Discovery St and Tolmie St on the west side of Jericho Park. You will find six volleyball courts, a few tennis courts, picnic tables, and a concession stand in Locarno.
A swimming raft is frequently present in the water as well. It is quite a small beach, yet there are lifeguards as well, but they are only there from late May to Labour Day (early September). If you enjoy sandy beaches, Locarno is the place for you.
8. Ambleside Beach
In the end, I must mention the Ambleside Beach. It is West Vancouver’s economic and artistic heart – a waterfront community that promotes the arts and culture in all of its forms.
So, it not only gives you a relaxing and fun atmosphere; but it will also bring out the artist within you. It is a lovely coastal community with artists, galleries, year-round festivals, and calm waters.
You can also visit the unique and distinct shops and restaurants, active riverfront parks and piers around. In great weather conditions, public parking is not allowed after slots are filled. When the parking lots are full, they will be closed. Please have a backup plan and follow traffic control directions.
What could be a better idea for spending your holiday than watching the majestic playful waves, relaxing in the serene atmosphere and making sand castles with kids? If you agree with me, here are your options for the best beaches in Vancouver. Enjoy and chill!
